Creative Tuesdays: Tea

The newest Creative Tuesdays theme is "tea." 

I previously shared my tea linocut print:

I was inspired to make an illustration based off this print, adding a little bit of whimsy:

The story: These cats woke up to suddenly find a giant teapot in the room! Whether or not these cats are still asleep and dreaming this is up to you. They could also be very small cats and the teapot is a normal size.

Creative Tuesdays: Forest

The newest Creative Tuesdays theme is "forest." Since I love illustrating animals, I decided to focus on one of the most well-known forest birds. I had previously posted my owl print:

Then, I made a new character sketch based on this print. I always admired some of the techniques of traditional animation. They often started with a basic black and white sketch, filling in all the gray values with graphite and charcoal. In a way, this drawing is meant to be a "looser" version of the print:

I also wanted to make a quick brainstorm drawing of an evergreen forest:

There is something fascinating about landscape drawings that do not show human beings directly, but rather suggest them with man-made objects like a wishing well or a cottage.

Creative Tuesdays: Ships

Hi everyone,

I was excited to see that the newest Creative Tuesdays theme is "ships." Nautical has always been one of my favorite themes to illustrate, print, and paint. Ships, boats, and related vessels are all interesting subjects to draw.

Recently, I turned my sailboat print into magnets! The magnets are now at the gallery:

Creative Tuesdays: Candy

The newest Creative Tuesdays theme is "candy." I had made a set of 16 abstracts, as previously introduced in my posts Creative Tuesdays: Monogram and Illustration Friday: Liquid.

At the time I made this abstract, I was thinking of the patterns and glossy textures you might see on a rainbow lollipop. Then, I added a varnish to give it that "juicy" look:
